We've had publishers be approached by another publisher, asking to buy their site from them. What does that mean since you signed an agreement with SHE Media?
In the agreement you signed with us, there is a clause that says any new owners of your site agree to complete the terms of the contract. So any new owner would need to finish out the contract term with us. (We do not hold them to any obligation beyond that)
What to know
Tell the SHE Media Support team as soon as you're in talks. That way we can begin to get information and prepare both you and the person buying the site with the full process to understand what's going to happen.
Do not give them access to your account
The new owner will get their own user account, because we need to maintain your payment/tax information to finishing paying you out and get you any tax documents in the next year. (we sent out 1099s to any site who earns over $600 with us in a calendar year. Otherwise, please make sure you have tracked all the revenue you earned for that calendar year for your taxes).
So make sure you give us their name and email so that we can create their account.
The new owner will need to go through MCM as well
All Collective members have to go through MCM, and that includes people purchasing a site. We will disable your account on the sale date, and ads will not be able to run until they finish the MCM process.
The good news is that they only need to pass MCM Step One. Once they do, we can transfer your MCM site approval to their account (this can take a couple of business days, because it's such a manual process).
We will transfer your ad injection settings and talk the new owner through swapping out the header code, so that as soon as the ads are approved, ads will reappear on the site.
But of course, we are happy to work with a new owner on any changes to ad placement they prefer.
