We're now entering Q3, and hitting the peak of summer. The SHE Media team wanted to take a moment to remind publishers of a few things.
Our offices are closed July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
That means our helpdesk is closed. We do remind all publishers that while you might have the day off - that it's in your best interest not to make major changes to your site on a holiday or weekend, otherwise you might lose revenue if your injections change. So it's always best to do that on a weekday.
Payments are released on July 5th!
SHE Media pays on a Net 35 schedule, which means that on the 5th, you receive your next payment (for revenue earned in May). Some months, you might get a payment earlier (if the 5th falls on a weekend or a holiday where banks will be closed). But this month, your payment will go out on July 5th.
Q3 Advertising buys reset
July is the start of Q3 which is often the second most profitable quarter of the year.
However, if you look in the dashboard in early July, you might see a drop in revenue/RPMs. It isn’t uncommon to see revenue drop the first week of July for two reasons:
- Advertising dollars follow a company’s fiscal quarters. Revenue is the lowest in January because that’s when a company’s budget starts over. It peaks in December when their budget year ends. But their budgets are also broken up by quarter - and July is the start of Q3 which is often the second most profitable quarter of the year.
- The last week was the Fourth of July when most people were on holiday. Many advertisers wait until after the holiday to start new buys as this holiday week is known for people being out and about and not on their computers and phones.
The Olympics
The Olympics begin. Running from Fri, Jul 26, 2024 – Sun, Aug 11, 2024, it isn't uncommon to see revenue drop through the games. Advertisers will often pull from their web budgets to focus on television advertising, as all eyes turn towards Paris.
That said, if you are blogging content related to the Olympics, now is your time to shine! Make sure your SEO games are on point, and share your Olympic related content.
Don’t be alarmed because your revenue will ramp up again as we enter a very profitable Q3.
