There are a lot of things that as a site owner, you want your readers to be aware of. You want them to sign up for your newsletter, know that you have an e-book or course, and you need them to click on a cookie banner.
Sometimes, you can have too much of a good thing. (Especially when you don't always see those pop-ups)
As a rule of thumb, you should think about what your visitors see. Where's your newsletter sign up - is it in the sidebar, is it a pop up, or a banner?
If you have a cookie banner or a newsletter banner - does it cover anything? Keep in mind that you can be penalized by ad providers for having something that covers ads - both in it hurting your viewability score (the amount of time an ad is "in view" while it's on a page) or because it's hiding it.
So how do you prompt for everything? Most pop-ups will allow you to stagger when they pop up. Maybe one won't pop up on the first page that someone visits, but on the second. Maybe you can change it to pop up after so many seconds visiting your site, rather than immediately.
And if you have a cookie banner or a newsletter bar - consider having it load at the top of the screen instead of the bottom!
