Did that get your attention? Let's try it one more time....
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR ADSENSE ACCOUNT
We know that it's tempting to close your AdSense account. You're with SHE Media now! You just passed MCM, and our ads are working.
But MCM is the reason why you can't close your AdSense account.
What is MCM?
MCM (short for Multiple Customer Management) is a process that Google created to help weed out bad sites and site owners from the ad ecosystem. It looks at every Google Ad product to see if you're in good standing, to let you use our ad network. (Or other premium ad networks)
Why can't I close my AdSense?
MCM uses AdSense as part of its framework. It connects to the Google Ad Manager account, and essentially gives Google an existing and verified payee structure in case that's ever needed. (Note: some companies that use MCM issue payments through Google. Our payments come from our Accounts Payable department. It's still a necessary part of the MCM framework)
What happens if I close my AdSense account?
If you close your AdSense account, it disconnects it from your Ad Manager account, which then disconnects itself from SHE Media, killing your ads.
To fix that, we would have you reopen your AdSense account (which might take some time. You might have to reverify the AdSense code on your site, and other onboarding steps). Then you would have to reactivate your Google Ad Manager account, and then you'd have to go through MCM again.
We have no guarantee of how long this might take, but at the very least it would take a week. A week with no ads.
So what are my options?
- Remove your AdSense code from your website. It depends on how you installed it in the first place, but if you used Site Kit, go into Site Kit in your Wordpress dashboard and click in the top right and there'll be a place to add/remove services. Disconnect AdSense.
- If you haven't quite hit the payment threshhold for AdSense, then reach out to the support team. We can walk you through how you can continue to run some AdSense until you hit that threshhold. NOTE: You may not be getting top earnings for this time, since you would not be considered an exclusive partner. So it's important that as soon as you hit that threshhold, you remove you AdSense and let us know
You'll leave your AdSense account open, just not installed on your site - which is how Google intends you to use it. This way, if you open another site, you can use that SAME ACCOUNT, but add a new site and use that to monetize it.
