This guide is only for sites on blogger that use a custom domain, and not for sites that use blogspot subdomains (example: yoursite.blogspot.com)
SHE Media has created a special DNS service - through your DNS hosting provider (the company that shows up if you run a WHOIS search on your domain), you can set up a record which will take any requests for an ads.txt file and send them directly to the ads.txt record we have for your site with us.
What's the benefit?
For all sites waiting to make it through Google's MCM process, this will get you past the bug that was keeping Google from recognizing your ads.txt file. As an additional bonus, you will never need to worry about updating your SHE Media ads.txt file again.
How to do this (the recommended option):
1. Let the SHE Media team know that you're setting this up. We'll make the update in our system, so as soon as this is set with your host, it'll begin to work.
2. Go to your DNS Hosting provider. If you're unsure who that is, run a WHOIS search for your domain and it will give you their name and site.
3. Login to their dashboard, and open a ticket with their support.
Copy/paste this message below:
I need assistance adding an A Record to my DNS, since I want to make sure this is done correctly. This is for my root domain, and needs to point to IP address 15.197.148.179
My provider has asked to make sure that we remove any other A records and AAAA records for this to work.
If you do want to do this yourself (not recommended):
1. Let the SHE Media team know you're setting this up. We'll make the update in our system, so as soon as this is set with your host, it will begin to work.
2. Login to your DNS Hosting providers's site and click to manage your domain (this may vary by provider, but once you're in the domain settings, you should see DNS settings)
- You'll add a record, select A as the type
- for the host, you'll want to make sure it's the root domain
(that's your site's domain name, but without the www)
- set the IP address to 15.197.148.179
- and if it asks for a refresh time, keep it at the default (which should be 1hr).
- remove any other A records as well as AAAA (IPv6)
Will this update automatically?
Yes! At SHE Media we regularly update our ads.txt files in order to make sure that we're bringing you the best providers possible. But because of this service, you will not have to worry about any of those updates.
What if I need to add an additional ads.txt line?
Most of our publishers are under exclusive contracts with us - but if you need to add an additional ads.txt line, please reach out to our Support Desk at support@shemedia.com and we'll be able to assist you with that.
