Effective today, the consent management platform (CMP) that SHE Media provides to publishers has changed. For both US and GDPR consent management platforms, we are now using Google's CMP.
Do publishers need to take any action?
The majority of those in the Collective will not need to take any action. We've migrated nearly the entire network to the CMP, and will be reaching out to anyone we need more information from.
Who will be contacted?
If you did not have a privacy policy listed in your site profile in our dashboard, or you had an invalid URL, you will be getting an email asking you to provide us with one. We will also be reaching out to any publishers who opt out of our consent management platform, and have not picked what CMP they're using. (Related: What to know if you aren't using the GDPR CMP that SHE provides)
What if I opt out of the Consent Management Platform?
You will need to ensure that you have a TCF v2.2 compliant CMP that's live on your site. It will need to be configured for both GDPR and US based privacy laws, in order for advertising to work properly. And will also need to be GPP/GPC compliant. (Otherwise, you might be missing out on revenue from all the EU and UK as well as the US states who have privacy laws)
What is GPP?
GPP is short for Global Privacy Platform - a new standard to help consent management platforms, provider and networks pass along the signals they need in a way that can make it easier to expand as new regions enforce privacy laws. GPC is a browser level signal (Global Privacy Control) that lets visitors opt out of advertising signals. If you see that your CMP supports either of those acronyms, you're set. If it doesn't, you will need to look for another CMP that does - or ask them when they plan to be GPP compliant.
What is an invalid privacy policy URL?
If you put in your domain, but not a direct link to a privacy policy, that's an invalid URL. If you linked to SHE Media's Ad Services privacy policy, that is not a valid privacy policy for your site.
What should be in a privacy policy?
A privacy policy details what kind of data a site collects, how it's used, and how someone can opt out. It is something that's unique to each individual site. As it's a legal document, this is something that we recommend if you are confused that you work with a legal consult to ensure that nothing is missed. If you're a DIY type, there are privacy policy generators that can help you create something for your site. (We recommend that you look at all the plugins and code you've installed on your site, describe what information it collects, copy to that company's privacy policy to start) (Related: Why do I need a privacy policy?)

Our Regulatory Compliance section has updated
We have combined the CMP opt-outs into one category. Collective Members no longer need to register with the IAB.
